Sandia Classic I May 31st-June 4th, 2006
Sandia Classic II June 7th-11th, 2006

The Equibest Team just returned from the Sandia Classic I and Sandia Classic II horse shows at the New Mexico State Fair Grounds in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Horses were competing at this show from Mexico, Okalahoma, Texas, California, Arizona, Colorado and Utah.

Beth Robinson of Ruidoso, riding her Hanoverian EL-S, brought home the Reserve Championship in the Children's / Adult Amateur Jumper division for both horse shows. Beth competes on the NM State Equestrian Team during the college year.

Leslie Parks-Beyer from Carlsbad won the Amateur Owner Hunter division for both Sandia Classic I and II on her Thoroughbred mare, Touch of Elegance. This pair also won the New Mexico Hunter Jumper Amateur Medal and the Equibest Medal.

Jayna Johns of Ruidoso won the Reserve Championship in the Beginner Hunter Rider division for the Sandia Classic I show. Jayna rode her Thoroughbred, Aidan. Aidan is enjoying his new horse show career. He was the winner of the Breeder's Cup Sprint in his racing days.

Peggy Dudman of Alto and her Thoroughbred Rio Moro won the Long Stirrup Under Saddle, the Beginner Rider Under Saddle and the Baby Green Hunter classes.Ê

Victoria Arrowsmith-Lowe of Ruidoso and her medium pony Mac A. Roany placed in all of her pony classes. Victoria will be graduating to a horse at her next horse show.

Cheryl Koen of Ruidoso and her Thoroughbred Toreo also got many good ribbons at the Sandia Classic I show.

Amanda Vine and Jessica Vega from El Paso joined the Equibest Team. They brought home many good ribbons in the Level I Jumper division.

The Equibest Equestrian Center will be holding their annual schooling horse show on September 23, 2006. All proceeds from this horse show go towards scholarships for riders in the Therapeutic Riding Program.
